Lois E. Hemmeler, 84 of East Hartford and Ellington passed away at Evergreen Health Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer on March 2, 2013 with her loving family at her bedside. She was born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Rose and Arthur St. Laurent. She graduated from East Hartford High School in 1947. Lois worked for Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford for 29 years before retiring. She was also an avid parishioner of St. Luke's Church and a member at the American Legion Auxiliary. lois enjoyed spending time at the casino, traveling and partaking in needle-point. Lois is survived by her three daughters, Karen Sas and her husband Jerry of Tolland, Joan Marks and her husband Ron of Tolland and Pat Stacy and her husband Ron of Ellington. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and her sister Doris Murkowicz of Windsor Locks. She was predeceased by her husband's Edward "Bill" Kibbe and John Hemmeler. Relatives and friends may gather Wednesday March 6th at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St, Rockville from 9 - 10 am followed by a procession to St. Luke's Church, 141 Maple St, Ellington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am in celebration of Lois' life. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
