Margaret Gregus

Gregus- Margaret Marie (Byrnes) Gregus, 90 of Vernon, beloved widow of George V. Gregus passed away Friday August 30, 2013 at Woodlake at Tolland after a short illness. She was born Nov 29, 1922, the daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Nagel) Byrnes. Prior to her retirement she worked at Swiss Cleaners for 20 plus years. She attended Union Congregational Church in Rockville for many years. She is survived by her loving children, her daughter, Jane Harvell, her son and his wife, Dana and Lisa Gregus, all of Vernon, a brother, Frederick Byrnes, of West Hartford, her seven grandchildren who were the joys of her life, John Harvell and his wife Heather, Jacob Harvell, Zachary, Timothy gregus and his wife Tembra, Micah, Hannah, and Sammy Gregus, her two great grandchildren Jayden and Joshua Harvell, her daughter-in-law, Charlene Gregus Turner, her special niece, Lynn Haberern, many nieces and nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Mark Gregus, a grandson, Adam Harvell, her brothers John, Francis, Robert, and Thomas, her sisters Mary, Norma, and Dorothy. Margaret was a woman with a deep and abiding faith and a great love for her country. Trips to Jerusalem and to the Statue of Liberty were two of the highlights of her life. The family wishes to thank the staff at Woodlake for their kind and compassionate care of our mother. Relatives and friends may join the family on Wednesday Sept 4, 2013 from 4 to 7 PM at the Burke-Fortin Funeral home 76 Prospect St, Rockville, with a service to take place at 7 PM. Burial will be private in Grove Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hockanum Valley Community Council/ Food Pantry, 29 Naek Road, Suite 5 A. Vernon, CT 06066.
