Ruth Antonia Aliski, 99, lifelong resident of Avon, died on Friday, November 17, 2017, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 29, 1917, in Avon, CT; daughter of the late Michael and Dora (Erhardt) Schinkel. Ruth worked for many years as a cafeteria worker for the Avon Public Schools. She is survived by a daughter, Hope Wilcox and her husband Richard of Avon; five grandchildren, Tammy Johnson of Winsted, Heather Underwood and her husband Michael of Colebrook, Haley McGrath and her husband Ryan of St. Albans, VT, Crystal Berg of New Hartford and Daniel Wilcox of Pawtucket, RI; 8 great grandchildren, Zachary and Logan Johnson, Ashlynn Zittoun, Alicia and Savannah St. Peter, Grayson Underwood, Liam and Oliver McGrath and great-great grandson, Greyson Johnson. In addition to her husband, Ruth was predeceased by a son, Walter Aliski, daughter, Faith Stavnitzky, grandson, Kevin Stavnitzky and brother, Edward Schinkel. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Village Cemetery, Collinsville.
