David L. Johnson, 67, of Tolland, CT, husband of Patricia A. Johnson, passed away peacefully with his family beside him on Wednesday, June 25, 2014. David was born on December 29, 1946, in Hartford, CT, the son of Emma Jane Johnson and the late Hugh Johnson. David proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, as a Corporal and served two tours in the Vietnam War where he was awarded three Purple Hearts. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he worked for the United States Postal Service for 36 years. Besides his wife Patricia and his mother Jane, David is survived by his three daughters, Heather Mathiau and her husband Daniel, Melanie Johnson, Jennifer Mathiau and her husband Kevin. He is also survived by his sister Cassie Cote and her husband Mel; his Grandchildren, Brieanna, Amanda, Alayna, Austin, Olivia and Ella; his Great Grandchildren, Joanna-Leigh, Sage and Franklin; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father Hugh, David was predeceased by his brother, Andrew Johnson and his nephew Billy Manke. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road, (RT 195), Tolland. A Military Service to begin at 6:30 pm. A Funeral Home Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at the funeral home.
