Diane J. Bracken Obituary

Diane June Bracken, devoted wife of Dan, died peacefully on March 1 2017, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, surrounded by her loving family, after fighting a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Besides her husband, Diane is survived by her parents, Bertram and Jean Bedell of Wantagh, NY; her precious twin boys, Nicholas and Christopher and his fiancée, Gina. She is also survived by her loving brother, Brian Bedell of Manhattan NY and his wife Kristen, and their daughter Percy, whom she adored. Diane was born on June 8, 1958 in Rockville Centre, New York. She graduated from Wantagh High School in 1976 and graduated from Farmingdale State College in 1978 where she met and began her life with her life long soul mate, her husband Dan. She worked for Phillip Morris in Manhattan NY prior to their marriage. Diane and Dan were married in Massapequa NY on June 23, 1979 and then moved to Tolland CT. She started working at The Hartford Insurance Group in 1979 and left after her twin boys were born to become a dedicated and devoted mother. She then worked part time for the Town of Tolland in the library, and later, for the Board of Education as a paraprofessional, first in the kindergarten, and then in the Reading Department. During those 20 plus years, she provided support, care, nurturing and love to many students in grades K-2. She also worked for many years in the Family Resource Center. Diane was also an extremely devoted and dedicated mother to the loves of her life, her husband and boys. She was involved in all aspects of their lives from at home provided love and care as well as with their extracurricular activities outside the home. She devoted herself whole heartily with their involvement with both their pursuits sports which included Baseball, Soccer and Basketball. Never missing a game or event. She also supported her husband's involvement with coaching and being a member of the board of directors for the sports their boys played as well as years after they left the programs. Diane was an avid sports fan and never missed watching the New York Giants as well as the New York Mets with her husband. Her passion was being near the ocean and she spent every chance she got at her favorite place, Myrtle Beach. Diane will truly be missed by her family to whom she dedicated her life and by many people, young and old whose life she touched during her much too short life. It was Diane’s wish to celebrate her life. Her family will be hosting a "Remember the Life of Diane" Open House on March 11 at The Lodge at Crandall Park, 124 Cider Mill Road, Tolland, CT between the hours of 6-10 PM. Diane wanted to give back to the community she loved as well as make contributions to fight against both Breast and Pancreatic Cancer as well as the facilities that treated her over the years.
