Malcolm Hunt
Malcolm L. Hunt, MD, 89, of South Windsor, formerly of Tolland, passed away, May 8, 2015 at home surrounded by family. He was born May 11, 1925 in Fitchburg, MA, son of the late Arthur J. and Theresa Laselle Hunt. He married Elizabeth “Betty” McDermott in April 1945 and they celebrated 57 years together before her death in 2002. Malcolm graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1942. He attended Tufts University and suspended his studies to serve his country in the US Navy during WWII. After his service, he returned to Tufts. He earned his undergraduate degree in 1947 and his MD in 1951. He practiced surgery in the Boston, MA area, Lewistown, PA, Punxsutawney, PA and Chelmsford, MA before working at Aetna in Hartford. He retired from Aetna in 1986. Malcolm is survived by his five daughters and their spouses, Carol and Jim Patterson Jr, Marcia and John Baker, Dale and Bob Johnson, Brenda and Steve Basson and Kim and Tim Shaw. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and their spouses, James and Shannon, Hope and Jeff, Julie and John, William and Sandi, Jennifer and Donnie, Heather and Chad, Kristen and Dewayne and Kathy. He leaves eleven great grandchildren, Bailey, Lauren, Emma, Jacob, Ashlee, Sarah, Aidan, Mackenzie, Alex, Emory and Nick. He leaves his in-laws, Barbara, Theresa, Pat, Joan, Joe and Bonnie. The family gathered recently to celebrate his upcoming 90th birthday and all got to spend time with him before his passing. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at St. Matthew Church in Tolland with burial to follow in St. Bernard Cemetery in Vernon.
