Mary T. Smith of Tolland, formerly of Simsbury, passed away peacefully on March 11th. She was born August 30, 1925 in Rockland, Massachusetts, the daughter of James F. and Gertrude M. Moran. Mary graduated from Rockland High School and worked at Boyt, Dalton and Church in Boston, and Rockland Trust Company. She married Earnest D. Smith in 1950 and moved to Simsbury with her family in 1968. She resumed her banking career with American Savings bank from which she retired in 1990. Mary moved to Tolland in 2007 where she was surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was affectionately known to all as “Baboo”. She was happiest at the beach in Humarock on the South Shore of Boston where she vacationed over the years with family and friends. Mary is survived by her daughters; Deborah Grassi and her husband James, Carolyn Borghesi and her husband Robert; her grandchildren; Kristyn Leary and her husband Ryan, Nicholas Grassi and his wife Laura, and Lindsay Bukowinski and her husband Alan; her great -grandchildren; Joclyn and Jameson Leary, Cadyn, Cooper and Carter Grassi.
