Sonata Lazauskas, 44, passed away on April 4th, 2014 surrounded by family, after a courageous 11-year battle with cancer at The Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale- New Haven. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Sonata was born in Kaunas, Lithuania on December 7, 1969. She married the love of her life Rolandas on April 15, 1989. Together they came to start a new life in the United States with their young family in 1992. They were just about to celebrate 25 years together. Sonata was always a fighter. She worked passionately through several careers and completed a college degree. Even through over a decade of surgeries, treatments, radiation, and hospital stays, she never once complained about her life. She lived everyday to the fullest. Sonata loved people and was a good friend to many. She knew everyone’s secrets, both good and bad, and was always worried about others, despite her own suffering. Sonata is preceded in death by her father, Jonas Cizauskas; she is survived by her husband, Rolandas , her daughters, Monika and Kriste, her mother, Irena Cizauskiene, her brother Marius Cizauskas, her sister-in-law and three nephews. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for calling hours at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road , Tolland CT on Friday, April 11th from 3-8:oo PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at The Church of St. Thomas Aquinas, 46 North Eagleville Road, Storrs, CT at 11:00am on Saturday, April 12th.
