Thelma "Tad" A. Chmura, age 74, of Tolland, beloved wife of 49 years of Stanley Chmura died on Sunday, February 28th, with her family by her side. She was born September 18, 1941 in Gilbertville, MA, daughter of Ernest Raymond Derosier and Margaret (Hebert) Derosier. She was a loving and caring nurse for 35 years at Rockville General Hospital. Tad was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church. She loved going to Maine, where many special memories were made with her family and friends. She especially liked going to the beaches in Wells, ME and Hilton Head, SC, with family and friends. Tad loved life, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed the simple things in life, playing cards, flowers, talking, meeting new people, reading especially on the beaches in ME. Tad’s sense of humor would make anyone laugh and put a smile on your face. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Besides her husband, Stanley of 49 years, she is survived by her children son Christopher Chmura and his wife Cynthia and daughter Jennifer West all of Tolland. She leaves her grandchildren that she called “her angels” Abbey, Matthew, Michael, and Sophie. She also leaves her sister Mary Dugay of Ware, MA and her husband William, brother in law Vernon Olson Sr. of Brimfield, MA, brother in law and his wife, John and Mary Chmura of Denver, CO and brother in law and his wife Richard and Janice Chmura of Taunton, MA. She leaves her best friend Beverly Morin as well as many friends that she called “special to her” as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Rita Olson. Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 5-8 PM at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road (Rt. 195), Tolland, CT 06084. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. Matthew's Church, Tolland. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Vernon.
