THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF PHYLLIS BATTERS. WATERBURY - Phyllis A. Batters (Arciom) July 8, 1944- April 7, 2021. Loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, godmother, and friend. Mrs. Phyllis A Batters of Waterbury, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, April 7, 2021 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital. She was 76 years old. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Batters and her only son, Stephen Batters of Plymouth. Phyllis was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Harriet Frances (Kimmish) and Anthony Arciom. She was the second of four children. After moving to Waterbury ,CT at a young age, she attended Sacred Heart Grammar school and graduated from Sacred Heart High School and attended Quinnipiac College. Phyllis retired as a phone operator from S.N.E.T and later worked as a paraprofessional and Latchkey instructor for the Wolcott Public Schools. Phyllis was a kind and loving woman who loved her family and friends. She loved gardening, reading, baking, I Love Lucy, and taking care of her dog, Bootsie. Phyllis was a parishioner of Saint Margaret’s Church and later the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Waterbury. Left to cherish her memory are Phyllis’ grandchildren, Mrs. Stephanie Whitehead and her husband Braden of R.I and Michael Batters of Plymouth. Her daughter in-law, Michelle McDermott of Plymouth. Phyllis’ sisters, Christine Vance and her husband Tom Vance of South Carolina. Mary Jo Arciom and Antoinette Picucci of Florida. Phyllis’ nephews; Tommy Vance, and Jeffrey Vance and his wife Shannon of Waterbury. Her nieces, Bridgette Sodano and her husband Christopher of Wolcott, and Zoe Martusewicz of Florida. As well as her great niece and nephews: Emmerson, Jaxon, and Declan. Funeral services for Mrs. Batters will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception 74 West Main St Waterbury at 10:00 a.m. All those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. All guidelines in effect regarding COVID#19 will be strictly enforced. Burial will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery, Waterbury. Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service has been honored to assist the Batters family during this difficult time.
