William Connors Obituary

William T. Connors, Jr., “Bill”, 90, of Farmington, formerly of West Hartford, passed away peacefully from this life on Sunday, February 9, 2020. He was born in Hartford on January 31, 1930, to the late William T. Connors, Sr. and Angelyn (Lecours) Connors and attended Saint Augustine School and Bulkeley High School. In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Charlie Company during the Korean Conflict. Making the rank of Sergeant, he was awarded four battle stars and numerous other awards, including the Purple Heart. After being honorably discharged, he began working as an Electrician, was a member of Local 35 IBEW and worked with Sweeney Electric for many years before retiring in 1992. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed family vacations on Cape Cod, tinkering around the garage or just lying in the hammock on a bright sunny day. He was active in numerous organizations including the Marine Corps League, American Legion, VFW Hannon-Hatch Post 9929, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Disabled Veterans (DAV)and the Vet Center of Rocky Hill. He was a proud and dedicated Marine who possessed a gentle caring soul that will be forever missed. Bill is survived by his four children and their spouses, William T. Connors, III and his wife, Lori, of West Hartford, Daniel H. Connors of Farmington, Kathleen C. O'Brien and her husband, Robert, of Avon and Anne C. Catillo and her husband, Vito of Farmington. He was affectionately known to his grandchildren as “BB” and will be remembered as a doting grandfather to Ryan, and his wife Tina, Haley, Mia, Moira, Katie, Patrick, Sarah and great-grandchildren, Noah and Olivia. He also leaves his sister, Geraldine T. Connors of West Hartford and sister-in-law, Anne Albee of Wagenar, SC. He was predeceased by his brother John F. Connors, Sr. and his former wife and friend, Maureen Connors. The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the kind and compassionate staff of Atria Farmington and Constellation Hospice Care as well as his many caregivers during the past few years. Friends may call on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 8:00-9:15 am at Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM in St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford, CT. Burial with military honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford, CT.
