MERLO, Ernest Daniel Ernest Daniel Merlo, 88, of West Suffield, Husband of Alexandria "Sally" (Horkun) Merlo passed away Sunday (October 17, 2010) in Vero Beach, FL. He was born in Windsor Locks, the son of the late Ernest and Maria (Santadrea) Merlo. He lived in Windsor Locks and West Suffield most of his life. He was employed as a mason in the construction industry and retired from the State of Connecticut Public Works Dept. Ernest was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Ernie will be remembered by all who knew him for his love of music. Besides his wife Sally, he is survived by three daughters Sandra Merlo of Middletown, Lana Sipitkowski of Suffield, and Donna Walker of North Stonington, one brother Lawrence Merlo of Eastford, five grandchildren; Loree Rippy, Jerry Merlo, Tara Quagliaroli, Kelly Dougherty, Alexander Merlo, and two great-grandchildren; Ian Merlo, and Mya Dubay. Friends may call at The Heritage Funeral Home 1240 Mountain Rd. West Suffield on Friday, October 22, from 5 - 8 p.m. Graveside Funeral Services will be Saturday (October 23, 2010) at The Southwick New Cemetery at 10 a.m. with full military honors.
