Norma Cobb Obituary

Norma Greta (Nissen) Cobb, 91, of Suffield, beloved wife of the late Russell T. Cobb, passed away on September 7, 2019. Born on September 19, 1927 in Bridgeport, CT; daughter of the late Christian N. and Agnes J. Nissen. She grew up in Fairfield and was a graduate of Roger Ludlow High School class of 1944. She and Russell were classmates – he the football player and she the cheerleader. She received an associate degree as Medical Technician from Larson Junior College now Quinnipiac University; and worked as such for a doctor’s office in Bridgeport. In 1949 she and Russell were married in United Church of Christ, Congregational in Bridgeport. Upon Russell’s graduation from University of Bridgeport he went to work for GE and they were sent to Louisville, KY in 1951. They lived there until May 1955 when they made their way back to CT. The family now with the addition of a son and daughter settled in Stamford until 1959 and moved to Orange before settling in Suffield in 1962. Norma was an active member of First Church of Christ, Congregational. She sang in the Chancel Choir for 50 years, was a past deacon, and an active member of the Women’s Fellowship. Norma was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was a past president of Suffield Garden Club, Suffield Auxiliary of the Village for Families & Children and Suffield Women’s Club. She was a member of Suffield Players and thoroughly enjoyed her association with the group – whether on stage or behind the scenes. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years Russell T. Cobb and daughter ChrisAnne Lea. She is survived by her son David Cobb; her sister-in-law Dorinda Pizone and her husband Joseph; their daughters Dorinda Lea Pizone, Andrea (Michael) Novia; and Virginia (William) Hull and their children Matthew and Emily. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 14, at 11:00AM at First Church of Christ Congregational, Suffield. Please meet directly at church. Burial will be private.
