Brian Levy Windsor Locks, Connecticut Obituary

Brian Levy

Brian D. Levy of Windsor Locks, husband of his high school sweetheart, Nancy (Grady) Levy, accepted the invitation to travel to another world on May 2, 2015. Brian was the father of Jennifer, Matthew and Kathryn and the father-in-law of Adam McLeod and John Gerster. Brian was the proud Grampa to Dustin, Grady, Parker and Jax McLeod and Brianna and Hudson Gerster. After God and his family, Brian had a love for the New York Yankees, a good book, UCONN women’s basketball, his country, a good story and a good-natured confrontation, not necessarily in that order. From a very early age, Brian displayed a fiercely independent spirit. While this quality sometimes got him into trouble, this is a quality we always admired. He had a brilliance that was belied by his level of formal education and a curious mind that allowed him to speak (and argue) about almost any subject. He had a positive attitude that was the envy of all who knew him. Even the many medical problems that dominated his recent life could not break his spirit. With Brian, the glass wasn’t just half full, it was overflowing. Brian was employed in the trucking industry for many years including as terminal manager for Carolina Freight and as director of the New England Tractor Trailer Training School. Brian was born October 8, 1948, the oldest son of Raymond and Ellen (Saunders) Levy. Brian is survived by his brothers and sisters and their children, Anne and her husband Alan Paluck, Tom and his wife Janet, Neil, and Rae-Ellen and her husband Gabriel Navarro as well as his brother-in-law John Grady and sister-in-law Kathy and her husband Glenn Blackburn. Brian enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews Betsy, Nate, Ale, Mauri, Hannah, Shane, Nic, Sarah and Maggie as they grew and explored the world. Brian’s family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 4 pm to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm St., Windsor Locks on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 10am. (Please meet at the church). Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. The family requests that you bring a written anecdote or remembrance of Brian suitable to be placed in a memory book for his grandchildren. Brian’s family would like to thank the doctors who have provided him with excellent care over the years and most recently the staff at Hartford Hospital. If you wish to make a donation in Brian’s name, please consider the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, PO Box 105, Glenolden, PA 19036, http://www.cmtausa.org or a charity of your choice.
