Istvan G. “Steve” Bauer, 70, of Windsor Locks loving husband of Elizabeth (Hubjak) Bauer passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019, in the comfort of his home with his family by his side. Istvan was born December 18, 1948, in Turkeve, Hungary the son of the late András and Krisztina (Vajda) Bauer. Istvan immigrated with his wife and two sons, to the United States in June of 1984 and afterwards became a US Citizen. Istvan’s work ethic was unlike many. He was a self-employed contractor who loved to work. He enjoyed watching sports, playing soccer, listening to music and cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was proud of his Hungarian heritage and was a longtime member of the Hungarian Club in Hartford. In addition to his wife, Elizabeth to whom he was married 50 years, he is also survived by three children, George Bauer and his wife, Meghan of South Windsor, Steven Bauer and his significant other, Amber Frasier of Windsor Locks, and Krisztina Stafford and her husband, Matthew of Plainville; 6 beloved grandchildren, Paige, Eden, Summer, Taylor, and Grayson Bauer and Andrew Stafford; five sisters, Krisztina Vegh, Katalin Tisza, Marta Barna, Maggie Kiss, and Ilona Bauer and their spouses; five brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members. Istvan was predeceased by two brothers, András and Lajos Bauer. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Saturday, November 2, 2019, from 9 am to 12 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral service Celebrating Istvan’s life will be held at 12 pm at the funeral home.
