Sebastian A. “Nono” DiDomenico, Jr., 84, of Windsor Locks, loving husband of 53 years to the late Laura A. (Shanahan) DiDomenico, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, in the comfort of his home with his family by his side. Sebastian was born April 30, 1935, in Hartford, CT the son of the late Sebastian, Sr. and Josephine (Gozzo) DiDomenico. He was a graduate of Hartford High School Class of 1953 and after high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. He retired from Wooster Express in South Windsor after 27 years as a diesel mechanic, and was widely known in town from working at the former Bradley Bowl for nearly 50 years. He was an avid bowler and also enjoyed playing poker, volunteering at the K of C Bingo nights, and attending car shows with his buddies. He loved trips to the Casino and East Beach with his wife and could often be found listening to his Rocky tapes, but Nono will be remembered most as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many that would drop what he was doing to help anyone. He is survived by three children, Donna DiDomenico, Karen Novakowski and Alec Novakowski and Mark DiDomenico and his wife, Renee all of Windsor Locks; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Richard, Michael, Ashley, Zachary, Madison, Ryan, and Hope; 6 great-grandchildren, Genesis, Azriah, Issihjah, Emmitt, Ellie, and Mia; his brother, Paul DiDomenico and his wife, Norma of Cape Cod; a cousin, Jimmy Gozzo and his wife, Lorraine of Scituate, MA and several nieces and nephews. Sebastian was predeceased by a daughter Laura “Laurie” DiDomenico. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at 10 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm St., Windsor Locks. Please meet at the church. Burial will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
