Theresa Marie Saxton

Theresa (Tree) Marie Saxton, age 66, of Newark Delaware died on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Christiana Hospital. Theresa was the daughter of the late Walter G. and Theresa (Callahan) Saxton. Theresa worked at the Little Sisters of the Poor and also volunteered there for 47 years. She also coordinated and planned many of the senior activities and trips at the Marydale Retirement Village where she lived for 30 years. Theresa from a very young age had a great fondness and love for the elderly. She spent her entire life loving them, caring for them, protecting them, supporting them, entertaining them and always putting them first. In 2005, Theresa was a recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Recognition Award. In 2008, Theresa was an honoree at the St. Joseph Recognition Event sponsored by the Little Sisters of the Poor. Theresa and her sister, Marie, delivered the morning paper for nearly 40 years in the Westover Hills, Westhaven, Greenville and Montchanin Road neighborhoods. Theresa is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth S. Carney (Thomas) and Marie T. Wileman (Wayne) and her brothers Walter G. (Doretta) and Thomas G. (Helen). Theresa is also survived by her nephews Walter, Richard (Jessica) and Michael Saxton and Wayne Wileman (Lilia); her nieces Amanda Stout and Stacy and Ashley Saxton. Her great nephews Daniel J. Stout and Hudson and Jadon Saxton. Her great nieces Tori Lyn Saxton and Johannah Leigh Lavin. Her faithful companion, her beloved miniature Italian Greyhound, Shamrock. Tree will always be loved and missed. Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tree's memory may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd, Newark, DE 19713.
