Elizabeth Hyland Obituary

Deaconess Elizabeth Hyland, passed peacefully in her home, on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last stages of her life. Deaconess Hyland was born on Thursday, September 19, 1929, to the late George H. Truitt and Harriet Oney Truitt, in Laurel, Delaware. She started her education at the Portsville School of Laurel, then later continued her education at the Owens Corner School of Delmar District. Deaconess Hyland did farm work on various farms. She was a faithful member of The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, where she became a deaconess. She loved and believed in God. Deaconess Hyland was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Hyland; son, Richard L. Hyland; two sisters, Ethel Deshiels and Deaconess Annie M. Penn and brother, Johnny Truitt and four others. Deaconess Hyland is survived by her sister, Mother Alice L. Gattis, of Laurel, DE; four children, Grace A. Truitt of Laurel, DE, Eloise Hyland of Wilmington, DE, Howard L. Hyland of Delmar, DE and Michelle Hyland of Laurel, DE; four grandchildren, Sierra N. Hyland, Ashley M. Hyland and Melita D. Hyland, all of Laurel, DE and Howard J. Butler of Hurlock, MD; 12 greatgrandchildren and one step-greatgrandchild. She will be missed by many.
