Florence Dukes

Florence I. Weisser Dukes, age 77, passed away on October 1, 2019, at her home in Seaford, Delaware, with loved ones by her side. She was born on November 4, 1941, in Reading, Pennsylvania, to Raymond and Katie Kunkelman Weisser.  She graduated from Wilson High School, in Reading, in 1959. Florence moved to Delaware in 1965, and worked at Gants Sewing factory in Laurel, Delaware, for a few years. Florence married Richard E. Dukes, Sr., on December 9, 1967.  Together they had four children and she became a homemaker. Later in life, Florence became an active member of the American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose.  She loved her job as an aid on the handicapped school bus. Florence was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Richard, who passed in 1986.  Florence is survived by her daughters, Melody Baker (Rick) and Shirley Dukes; her sons, Raymond Dukes (Na) and John Dukes; four grandchildren, Timothy Pritchett, Jr., William Tribbitt, Kailani Dukes, and Taylor Dukes; one great-granddaughter, Alivia Sutton; two step-grandchildren, Christopher Baker and Leslie Rosemary (Kevin), four step-great-grandchildren, Kailie Foster, Lisa Baker, CJ Baker and Madison Rosemary; two sisters, Mary Donovan and Kathy Snellbaker; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Florence’s name to Delaware Hospice.
