Frankie Pitts

Frank J. Pitts, “Frankie” was born on Friday, April 12, 1929, in Williamsville, Delaware, to the late Elijah B. and Helen C. Pitts. He passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at the age of 90. Frankie received his formal education in the public schools of Worcester County, Maryland. He started driving trucks in 1945, and drove for several companies, including Little D’s Trucking, H&H Poultry, Clyde Frazier and Wheatley. Frankie enjoyed driving his trucks and socializing with family and friends. Everyone knew that laughter was his specialty. He loved to be around family and loved to barbeque. His favorite foods were pig feet, chitterlings, trout, and rock fish. He disliked ketchup. He was a fan of jazz music and his favorite saying was, “Just laying back on the sideline”. In 1950, he met Marian V. Davis and they were married in 1977. She passed away in 2002. Sincere gratitude is extended to Betty Smith for her love and kindness in caring for Frankie. Frankie leaves to cherish his memories, three daughters, Marie Taylor, Selbyville, Delaware, Sandra Sturgis (Pearlis), Fredericksburg, Virginia and Joan Wise, Frankford, Delaware; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Postley, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; a special grandson, Nick Farlow (Annette), a favorite niece, Frances Pitts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Frank was preceded in death by his son, Wendell Postley; and all of his siblings, Harrison, Thomas, Helen, Retta, Russell, Flossie, Ella Mae, James, Ida and Sarah Pitts.
