Lawrence E. Brown, also known as “LB” was the 6th of 14 children born to the late Hazel and Walter Brown on November 17, 1940. Lawrence peacefully went home to be with the Lord on January 29, 2017 at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife, Mamie A. Brown, their son, LaMaur E. Brown (Kelly); 3 children from his first wife Mary; Lawrence E. Brown Jr., Stephanie Brown, and Tracey Collins (Rodney); 2 stepchildren Cheris D. Reed and Sean C. Redden. Lawrence attended Howard High School in Wilmington, DE. After high school, he went to work with Jim Baker who later became the Mayor of Delaware, as a Director from 1967 to 1969. Lawrence was an active member of the WYEAC organization which fought against the gang violence in Delaware. He later became a Board Member for the WYEAC focusing on resolving violence in the State of Delaware. Lawrence began his career as an Environmental Technician working for DuPont in 1969. After 30 years of service, he retired from DuPont in 1998. Lawrence was dedicated to his job throughout his many years of services with DuPont. Lawrence was a private person who enjoyed spending time watching TV, Fishing and Gardening in his yard. He loved playing baseball as a young man. Lawrence loved watching all types of sporting events and western movies on TV. Lawrence was preceded in death by his mother and father, Hazel and Walter Brown; sisters Hortense and Carolyn; brothers Walter Jr., Charles and George. He is survived by sisters, Dora Faulkner, Regina Robinson, Wafiyah Abdussamad and Sharon Fields; brothers Herman, Ronald, Calvin and Ellsworth Brown. In addition, he leaves to mourn; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; his many nephews and nieces as well as a host of other family and friends.
