Gregory Simon Obituary

Gregory Simon, son of the late Gregory Murray and Joanie Evans was born January 25, 1975, in Washington, DC. He peacefully transitioned this life on March 17, 2019 at the age of 44. Greg was raised in The Bronx, New York, by his loving grandparents, the late Earl and Maxine (Noni) Simon. The family relocated to Delaware in 1990. He graduated from John Dickinson High School in 1993. Greg was a skilled general contractor and laborer under the apprenticeship of his uncle, Efren Jorge. Most recently, Greg was employed by The Restaurant Depot. Greg married Pam McGhee, February 16, 2011. His love was evidenced in the unabashed affection that he always displayed to his Queen. His love for her never wavered, whether times were good or bad, happy or sad. Greg was extremely competitive and well known for talking trash against any and all opponents, particularly those that he played cards against. He was always the winner in his eyes, even when he lost a game. He was a sports enthusiast. Greg was an avid New York Giants fan. He loved watching football with his family, who all happened to be fans of opposing NFC East teams. As you can imagine, this certainly made for some eventful Sunday afternoons during football season. Greg always had a jovial spirit and he loved to laugh. Many will remember the visuals of the countless snapchat footage of Greg posing, while using one of his favorite funny filters. His lovely smile will forever be imprinted in our hearts. Greg enjoyed time spent with his older sister Keisha, of whom he was very protective. Most recently Greg made a concentrated effort to further strengthen his relationships with those that he loved, his children and grandchildren in particular. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Joanie Evans and Gregory Murray; grandparents, Earl and Maxine (Noni) Simon, Joseph Haddock, and Gloria Evans; and father in-law, Daniel McGhee. Greg leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife and partner of 17 years, Pam McGhee; children, KaNasia Rollins, Amiya Simon, Jai’Yar McGhee, Isaiah Moore, and Mariah Martinez; sister, Keisha Simon; mother in-law, Helen (Jenny) Givens; godmother, Karen Goodwin; sisters in-law, Karen Pinkett, Tara Givens-Anderson, Zita Davis (Salim), brothers in-law, Terrance Givens and Oliver Givens Jr.; granddaughters, Royal Deshields and Peyton Martinez; aunt, Terri Evans; uncles, Cesar, Joseph, Barry and Troy Evans, Douglas Simon, and Efren Jorge (Libby); niece, KaiJana Rollins; nephews, DaeKwon Rollins and Caron Cannady (Beef); loyal friends, MarKee and Isha Ellerbee; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
