Katrina Ann Ledbetter-Potts Obituary

Katrina Ann Ledbetter-Potts, was born on Sunday, January 30, 1972, to Yvonne Patterson-Ledbetter and Boyd Ledbetter, in Wilmington, Delaware. She was born again through the Holy Spirit in the 1990's and served God and his people faithfully until the Lord called her home. At the time of her birth, only God knew the number of lives she would touch, the effect she would have on those lives, or the number of hearts that would feel the impact when He called her to rest on Saturday, February 9, 2019. Katrina graduated from Newark High School, and received her nursing certification through Delaware Technical & Community College. She pursued a career in serving the sick and elderly in their homes and then continued serving as a Patient Tech at Christiana Care Hospital, Newark, Delaware. Katrina was devoted to her family and being with them made her heart joyful. This devotion was especially evident as a daughter often spending quality time with her mother, they both enjoyed shopping outings and traveling to church functions together. She often enjoyed being with her father who exposed her to singing the gospel for many years, remembering one of her favorite songs as a little girl “How I Learned to Live Holy”. As a sister, she would always be excited to attend family reunions and picnics to eat crabs and to simply gather as a family. She never hesitated to call whenever she felt one of her siblings on her heart and would often check to see if all was well. She became a mother on February 18, 1988, to her only child, whom she often lovingly called “Layshia Led”. They spoke daily, where she often poured out much eternal Godly wisdom, prayer and love through their conversations. They share a bond like no other, that through love transcends this earthly realm. To all her nieces and nephews she was known as 'Aunt Trina', and for them she was always within reach. Katrina became a devoted wife to Lenard Potts on April 12, 2012. She often referred to him lovingly as “Minister Potts”. They enjoyed ministering together, to communities, locally and abroad, through anointed plays, skits and outreach events. Their oneness of heart was to reach the lost and win souls to Christ. Katrina was known to her friends and all those that came in contact with her as faithful, positive, outspoken, forgiving, caring and the person to call on to get a prayer through. She had the spirit of an entrepreneur and started her own jewelry business named Gemstones from Glory, where she fashioned original pieces by her own hands. In her younger years she enjoyed cheerleading for the Southbridge Cowboys. She also served single moms through S.W.I.M (Single Women in Motherhood) in Delaware. Katrina most enjoyed serving the Lord as a faithful member of Helping Hands Ministries and being with her spiritual family. Katrina leaves to cherish her memory, her one child, Elijah Ledbetter; parents Boyd & Yvonne Ledbetter; five sisters Martina Jenkins, Nadine Henderson, Kizzy Johnson, Charlene Jones and Armetha Jones; three brothers, Boyd Ledbetter, Lloyd Ledbetter and Boyd Ellington. In addition, she is survived by her husband, Minister Lenard Potts; stepson, Devon Stovall; Minister Potts’ daughters, Nashawn and Michele Lloyd; father-in-law, Rev. William Potts; sisters-in-law, Cyntoria Potts, Trene Duker, Faith Kelly & Connie Potts; brother-in-law, Billy Potts; best friends, Evangelists Ronald and Karen Cole; sister-friend, Nicole Tatuem; and four god-children; and a host of nieces & nephews along with spiritual family & friends. She was preceded in death by siblings Jeremiah Jones, Pearl Dickerson and Cory Dickerson. Countless lives have been impacted by her love, tenacity, joy and spiritual strength, for we know to be absent from the body she is present with the Lord! Lovingly Submitted by the Family
