Jimmie Waldorff Obituary

Jimmie Kingry Waldorff, age 101, passed away at her home in Blountstown, Florida Saturday, December 22, 2012. She was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and was a member of First Baptist Church in Altha, Florida. Ms. Jimmie lived a long and colorful life. She was one of seven sisters who left an unforgettable mark on many local families. She was part of the Altha girls basketball team that won the state championship in 1928. She worked for 13 years as a nurse at the Calhoun-Liberty Hospital and loved every minute of it. She was married for 75 years to George Waldorff, helped run the Waldorff Hardware store for many years, and had two gardens every year (for as long as her sons could hold out). She loved to fish and was a member of Cox’s Immonia Lake Fishing Club for more than seventy years. Preceding her in death were her husband, George Martin Waldorff, Sr.; her parents, John and Mary (Brown) Kingry; a son, George Waldorff, Jr.; six sisters, Ninver Peacock, Sydney Peacock, Bohn Eubanks, Johnnie McCall, Eddie Newman, Annie Edling; a grandson, David Waldorff, and great-grandson, David Waldorff Jr. Survivors include two sons, Maxie Waldorff and his wife, Betty, of Altha, Florida and Larry Waldorff and his wife, Kathy, of Blountstown; one daughter-in-law, Marsha Waldorff, of Altha; eight grandchildren, Jim Waldorff and his wife, Sara Kay, Pam Wilson and her husband, Bob, Scott Waldorff and his wife, Jennifer, Mike Waldorff and his wife, Connie, Paula Bonomo and her husband, Jeff, Donna Tew, Jaycee Moore and her husband, John, and Lisa Taylor and her husband, Steve; fifteen- great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the Altha First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Reverend Jim McIntosh officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery near Altha. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Altha First Baptist Church New Sanctuary Building Fund, P. O. Box 205, 25503 North Main Street, Altha, Florida 32421.
