Frank D. DeWitt, 69, of Lake Panasoffkee, passed away on April 9, 2020 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center. Born February 10, 1951 in Washington, PA to the late Robert and Elizabeth (McKinnon) DeWitt. He grew up in Tampa and has lived in Lake Panasoffkee for the last 26 years. He was a Telecommunications Engineer and a Real Estate Agent in Lake Panasoffkee prior to his retirement.
Frank was a proud Army Veteran. He served during Vietnam and was a Sergeant in the Army. Frank’s bravery and character were shown when he expanded his service becoming an Army Ranger/LRRP (Long-Range Reconnaissance Patrol) 75th Regiment, a position he volunteered to be selected for further showing his bravery and devotion to his country. Frank was awarded a National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, and an Army Commendation Medal. He was a good singer and loved working on his antique cars.
Frank is survived by his wife of 50 years, Vivian (Sierra) DeWitt of Lake Panasoffkee and his son, Chas Boone DeWitt and his wife Nadine of Lake Panasoffkee.
All services will be private and Mr. DeWitt will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
