Jean L. Cohick, a long-time resident of Port Orange, FL, passed away on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017. She was born in Shamokin, PA on October 7, 1924, grew up in Williamsport, PA, and graduated from Goodwin Business College. Jean married the love of her life, Vincent Cohick, on January 6, 1945 and was blessed to share 58+ wonderful years until his death in December, 2003. Jean’s professional career spanned over many years where she worked for Strohman Brothers Bakeries, Continental Can Company and General Electric. She moved to the Port Orange area in 1963 when she was transferred with her division at General Electric and eventually retired from GE after 25 years of service. Jean was a devoted volunteer and member of 1st UMC Port Orange, United Methodist Women, Business and Professional Women’s Club, and South Peninsula Garden Club where she held many positions but greatly loved her treasurer duties. She was an avid gardener and had many entries in the local flower shows held at the Ocean Center. Survivors include a brother, George Haas of Montoursville, PA; a nephew Kirt Lundy and wife Donna of Plantsville, CT along with many dear friends that loved her like family. Jean’s service will be held at 1st UMC of Port Orange, 305 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange, FL 32127 at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to 1st UMC Port Orange (undesignated) or The Center for Visually Impaired, Daytona Beach.
