Dr. Meta Wutrich

Dr. Meta C. Wutrich was born September 2, 1937 of Satellite Beach, FL, died peacefully June 25, 2017. Loving wife, mother and educator, Mimi was born in Marietta, Ohio, and spent her childhood on the banks of the Ohio River. She graduated from Marietta High School and continued her studies, earning a degree in Education and Music at Ohio University in 1959. It was there where she met the love of her life, David M. Wutrich. They married in 1961. Dave and Mimi moved to Brevard County in the mid-1960s were she solidified her commitment to education with a life-long career with the Brevard county school system while raising three boys; David, Daniel, and Eric. Her dedication to personal education continued and she earned a Masters degree in Education Administration from Rollins College in 1976. Mimi’s commitment to her community also grew and she was an active volunteer with the Eastminster Presbyterian Church, and Holmes Regional Medical Center. Her passion for music led her to play flute with the Melbourne Municipal Band. Mimi loved to read, write stories, and travel. She enjoyed discovering new places and visiting exotic locales and took cruises and holidays abroad, and visited her family while they lived overseas. Her travel diaries were enlightening and amusing reads for family and friends. Her love of education and service to the community she lived in continued after her retirement from teaching with service as a Guardian ad Litum in Brevard, protecting and being the voice for at risk children. During this time she pursued and completed her doctorate in Psychology in 2002. Mimi is preceded in death by her husband David M. Wutrich, and son David C Wutrich. She is survived by her sons Daniel M and Eric R Wutrich and their families. A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 on Friday July 7, 2017 in the memorial garden at Eastminster Presbyterian Church.
