Robert E. (Bob) Wilkinson, 92, of Satellite Beach, born March 19, 1925, died peacefully September 12, 2017, surrounded by his family. Bob grew up in Toms River, N.J. and is a veteran of World War II. He fought in several battles in Europe including The Battle of the Bulge and the Bridgehead at Remagan; he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. After the war Bob attended Syracuse University where he met his wife, Betty. The two were married the following year. He and his family moved to Florida in 1954 where he worked at the Kennedy Space Center with companies associated with the space program. In 1971 he returned to school and earned his Doctorate in Business Administration from Florida State University. In 1978 he was selected to be a Fullbright Professor at Istanbul University in Turkey. He then taught for Troy State University in Spain, Germany, and England and retired as Professor Emeritus in 1998. After retirement he and Betty traveled extensively overseas teaching in Estonia, Turkey and Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Inner Mongolia China until 2011. He is survived by Betty, his wife of 67 years, his four children, Robert (Bernadette), Miriam, Jeff (Eileen), and John, two grandchildren, Skyler and Sarah and his devoted dogs, Annie, Muti, and Hansi. Memorial services will be 10:00 am Saturday, September 30 at Beach Funeral Home, 1689 S. Patrick Dr., Indian Harbour Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, those who would like to remember Bob might consider a donation to the Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
