Hezekiah James Obituary

Hezekiah was a long-time resident of the Lake Forest community on the Northside of Jacksonville, Florida. He was born December 26, 1931 to the late Hezekiah James, Sr. and Effie L. Butler James. During his younger years he lived in Switzerland, Florida.

Hezekiah aka “Junior or Bull” affectionally was called by those who knew him well as an avid hunter, fishermen, taxi driver and cook. Hezekiah was a member of the White Oak hunting club in Tarboro, GA. His occupation was that of a concrete mason and retired with over 26 years of service.

Hezekiah was a brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to all who loved him dearly. On Friday night, December 14, 2018, God stepped in and said “no more”. No more pain, suffering or sickness, come “take your rest”. Preceding him in death was his wife of 40 years, Vernett Hicks-James and son, Hezekiah James III.

Hezekiah leaves behind his love and many cherished and wonderful memories: endearing children, Ronald (Laverne) Atlanta, Georgia, Anita, Morris, Vanessa Jones (Richard) Atlanta, Georgia, Gregory, Ruth, Gianetta, Douglas (Gia), LaNorris Linder and Shirley Davis of Ft.
