Audrey Whitter Lauderdale Lakes, Florida Obituary

Audrey Whitter

Audrey was born at Kingston Jubilee Hospital on April 7th, 1953. She was the youngest of seven children from Lena Murray and Jonas Wellington. While in Jamaica, Audrey attended Alpha Infant and Primary School as well as Holy Trinity. She later studied at Tivoli Gardens Technical School and worked at Statistics until she migrated to the United States. In July of 1988, Audrey married her husband Clive; they remained married for 31 years. Her first place of employment in America was Alamo Car Rental, where she worked for three years. After leaving Alamo, Audrey started her position as a Senior Clerk at The Department of Revenue. Audrey was a very joyful and dedicated worker. She loved her position and later retired in March of 2019 after 23 years of service. To know Audrey was to love her. She treasured being surrounded by family and friends. She had a very adventurous spirit and always sought new experiences. One of Audrey’s favorite places to visit was The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino; she truly enjoyed the live entertainment and loved playing a few slot machines for fun. Audrey valued being a mother the most. She often joked that she was “born to be a mother.” This was evident by the affectionate relationship she fostered with her children. She took pride in caring for her nephews, Wayne and Chris, as well as raising her two daughters, Nicole and Allyson. Audrey will always be remembered for her heart that was larger than her bright, beautiful smile. Audrey is survived by her husband, Clive; children, Nicole and Allyson; sisters, Joan Stone (Bunny) of Canada, Marjorie Patrick (Steve) of Lauderhill, FL, and Sharon Harrison of Tamarac, FL; brothers, Eric Wellington of Tamarac, FL, Ronald Wellington (Judy) of Margate, FL, and Carlos and Alvin Wellington, both of Jamaica; a host of nieces, including Natalie Welch of Orlando, FL, Donna Pinckney (Lucien) of Bronx, NY, Paula Mason of Sunrise, FL, Charmaine Wellington of Augusta, GA, and Cheryl of New York; nephews, Wayne Wellington (Brigitte) of Tamarac, FL, Chris Wellington (Pam) of Jacksonville, FL, Bradley Morgan (Darlene) of Coral Springs, FL, Eric Wellington of Tamarac, FL, Conway and Owen Stone, both of Ontario, Canada, Trevor and Travis Wellington, both of Margate, FL, Troy, Richard, Michael, Patrick, Earl, Vaughn, and Melvin; and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews. Audrey will live forever in the hearts of her family and friends who love her dearly.
