Beryl Sunanon

Mrs. Beryl Maude Sunanon was born on February 11, 1932 to Cyril and Amy Ramanand in Portland Cottage, Clarendon, Jamaica. She attended Portland Cottage Primary School and acquired her business acumen through her family’s business. At age 17 she met and married the love of her life Cecil Sunanon for 60 plus years. The union produced 7 children-Paula, Judith (deceased), Ceceile, Herma, Vincent (deceased), Marcia, Cecile Jr. Life’s challenges of raising 7 children, running a business and being a wife to a hardworking husband took its toll on her, she succumbed to a brief illness but soon after showed strength and resilience and resumed her role in the family. This resilience never left her, and proved to be the rock and foundation for the strength of the family. This has left a demonstrative legacy and guidance for all her children and generations to come. Ms. Beryl, as she is fondly called, was a beloved member of Nazareth Gospel Assembly, Kemps Hill, Jamaica where she sang in the church choir, and developed long term friendship with her church community. She often interacted with the women in the community by helping to provide an income for their families and gave a helping hand when she was called upon, while to some she was firm she remained kind and respected. Since 2010, our Mom’s life was altered with the passing of her husband and caregiver. She subsequently migrated to Florida USA. Although she continued with her health challenges she had a zest for life and found comfort and joy being with her children. While living with her daughter Herma for the past two years, she attended The Faith Center church where she enjoyed worshipping her Lord Jesus Christ and fell into the arms of a loving and caring church family. Mom enjoyed being with, meeting new people and frequently accompanied Herma to social gatherings and joined in entertaining guests at their home. Unfortunately, she succumbed to a short illness and passed to rest in peace on September 14, 2016. Thank you Mom for caring for us. We will dearly miss your love and devotion to us. You will forever live in our hearts and continue to celebrate your life as we cherish fond memories.
