Betty Holloman Nelson

Betty Ann Holloman Nelson was born July 13, 1950 in Darlington, South Carolina to Alex Holloman and Essie Mae Jacob. She is the youngest of six siblings. Betty attended grade school in South Carolina. She moved to Florida after high school with her husband, the late James Nelson and resided in the state for more than 40 years. While in Florida she gave birth to her only child, a daughter, Brenda Lee Nelson. She also became employed by Broward General Medical Center where she worked for 28 years. After retiring from Broward General in 2000 she worked in childcare for about five years. Betty really loved children; she has one daughter, but raised and nurtured many. She is affectionately called Ma by those she raised. In her leisure time Betty loved spending time with her family, dancing, and fishing. Betty departed life on November 21, 2015. Her mother, father, sister Lila Mae Austin and brother Alex Holloman, Jr. proceeded her death. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her daughter, Brenda Lee Nelson (Vaugh) Henry; her sons: James Nelson and Byron Davis; her grandson: Ajani Henry; her siblings: Essie L. (Willard) Jenkins, Sadie Mae Abson, and Willie (Betty Jean) Holloman; her in-laws: Jannie Holloman, Caridel Nelson, Carol Nero, James Nelson, and Johnny Rae Nelson; her beloved God-Children, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
