He lived a great life, he was such a humble, confident and loving man that, to say he didn’t walk in love would be a crime.  My tribute to my husband. “He was an elegant man, very special, a grand man. A husband, provider, a great friend, motivator and educator.” He encouraged me to go to school and, I graduated with my degree in Christian Counseling. Later, Carl followed and graduated with a Certificate of Completion in Computer Applications for Business & Social Networking. Carl first job was a teacher at Couva Elementary in Trinidad, he briefly worked as a Surveyor, and then got a job as an off Shore Rig Hand at Dominion Oil. Carl moved to NY in 1967 and worked managing a liquor store while attending school. He was particularly proud of his achievements when he completed high school as an adult. He then went on in 1986 to achieve his Bachelors of Science Degree from Iona College NY at age 54 yrs. With his newly acquired Bachelor’s Degree, Carl started his career on Wall St, NYC with a brokerage company, Loeb Rhoades, Shearson, Solomon Smith Barney, all mergers and finally Citi Group. Carl was supporting the online systems application Trading Management Systems (TMS.) as a Release and Deployment Analyst. Whilst there, Carl had great friendships with Denise Jacobs his boss, Steve, Dedra, Lisa, Diane, Lorraine, Brenda, and Patricia along with many others. At his retirement, Carl loved to travel! Home to Trinidad was his favorite place. He loved to do vacations at Maracas Beach and Tobago. Carl hobbies were reading, sightseeing from the driver’s side. (Humor). He had a fond love for baking bread which he shared with the neighbors. I knew the time came for him to stop baking was when he poured Vanilla essence on the breads. (Humor) Dancing was his thing, he would be the life of the party (Mighty Sparrow Jean and Dinah- Laughter). He loved Football and CNN News. Carl was a very private person and yet he made friends along the way Ian Jameson, Lennard Johnson, John his barber and many others. Carl was an active member of the Ft Lauderdale United States Power Squadron (USPS) and became friendly with the Jeffers family, Fred Richards Retiree of the United States Airforce, Retired Lt. Col. Leo Gray, one of the original Tuskegee airmen and others. Carl loved the Lord, and rededicated his Christian journey at Apostolic Faith Christian Center, The Faith Center Ministries and, Lifeline Christian Fellowship to which he was a member. We wish to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expression of love, concern and kindness shown during this time of bereavement. With special thanks to those who are here and streaming from their homes in Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, the USA. May God bless and keep you.
