Carmen Davey Obituary

Carmen Isabel Davey lovingly called "Aunt Carm" by all, was born on November 28, 1916 in Bull Savannah, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. Born to David and Edith Powell, she was the last survivor of six children and one of twin girls. Carmen attended Bull Savanah Primary school before moving to Kingston, where she met her husband George Davey, a soldier from Up Park Camp. When he left the army they decided to set up residence in Duff House and later moved to New Forest. Carmen worked as a supervisor at the canning factory in Bull Savanah while her husband worked as a supervisor at Kaiser Bauxite Company. Hoping for a better life for her family, they migrated to Hartford, Connecticut, USA. She held two jobs at times to keep her family safe and under one roof always dismissing her needs for the needs of her family. After a short stay in NY, she relocated to the state of Florida. There she became a widow in 1991 and spent her remaining years in Sunrise, Florida. Carmen was a pillar of strength for her family and friends. Her two passions in life were to extend kindness and compassion to everyone and to gather family together for very memorable meals. She was very direct and never hesitated to express her feelings. Aunt Carm was an iconic member of the family who was adored and loved by everyone. Carmen is survived by her children: Marcia Delepenha (Pat), Fredrick Davey (Freddie), Rita Davey (Daughter-in-law), Andrea Mercer (Debbie), and Albert Davey (Dex); 12 grandchildren; eleven great grand children; two great great grandchildren; 23 neices and nephews and numerous other relatives. Aunt Carm will be greatly missed.
