Donald Leslie Pusey was born in Kingston, Jamaica, St. Andrews Parish on January 21, 1931, 89 years...what a life... Born in Kington on January 21, 1931, my father moved to London, England, in 1957, where he worked as a plumber and then foreman for the Islington Borough. His dream was always to work and save enough money to move back to Jamaica and buy a house. He traveled back and forth often, but never made the final move. The closest he got to moving back to his beloved Jamaica, was in 1988, when he retired to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with my mother and myself. Still working his trade expertise, Daddy decided to come out of retirement and work in the plumbing department at Scotty’s Department Store and upon Scotty’s closing, moved on to Home Depot. Upon his retirement from Home Depot, daddy made it a point to visit his beloved Jamaica, a few times a year. He spent time visiting his stomping grounds in Retreat, St. Mary, and staying at numerous all-inclusive hotels in Ocho Rios because he’d “worked long enough.” It was time for him to enjoy life. In October of 2015, my daughter, Riley Dean, took my place as apple of his eye when he became a grandfather at 84 years of age. He spent numerous hours teaching her dominoes, playing with Legos and building blocks on the living room floor, cruising the neighborhood on her bike, and cuddling up to watch the Disney Channel. She was/is his joy. Grandpa was/is her best friend. Daddy is survived by: his wife of 43 years, Merline “Joyce” Pusey; daughter, Dionne Dean; son-in-law, Earnest C. Dean III; granddaughter, Riley Dean; stepdaughter and her partner, Pauline J. Welch and David Dowe; two nieces, Yvonne Palmer and Valerie James; and grandniece; Sharon Knabb. He will be forever in the hearts and greatly missed by numerous grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, close friends, and neighbors.
