Jacquilyn Horn-Turner Lauderdale Lakes, Florida Obituary

Jacquilyn Horn-Turner

A TIME TO BE BORN: What a beautiful day it was on Sunday, November 01, 1942 when an angel was born to the late Frank Quinn and the late Dolly Mathews, in Miami-Dade, Florida. The proud parents decided to name their sweet baby Jacquilyn Lavern Quinn. Jacquilyn was the last child out of seven children born to Mr. & Mrs. Quinn. Five of her siblings preceded her in death. Jacquilyn grew up in Deerfield Beach, Florida. There she attended elementary, middle school, and high school. Later in her life and due to her Mother remarrying, Jacquilyn changed her name to Jacquilyn L. Horn. A TIME TO SERVE: There was a profound calling on Jacquilyn's life to the ministry. Her mother Dolly Quinn Horn was the pastor/owner of the Church of God in Deerfield Beach Florida. God called Jacquilyn to the ministry, and she gladly responded. Jacquilyn became a force and voice to be recognized in the ministry. She was ordained as an Evangelist at Delray Community Missionary Baptist Church lead by Bishop Albert Moore. She was a dedicated member for more than 25 years, where she faithfully and dutifully carried out God's work. She was the superintendent over Sunday school and the president of the pastor's aids committee. She was a steadfast disciple in the ministry as she always opened up her home and her heart to all willing to allow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into their lives. She even petitioned God that if he would bless her with a van she would bring souls to church. God answered her request and blessed her with a brand new van. Evangelist Turner fulfilled her promised by driving around every Sunday picking up souls, and bringing them to and from the house of the Lord. A TIME TO UNITE: Evangelist Turner was united in holy matrimony to her childhood sweetheart the late Deacon David Turner. Evangelist Turner was the mother of six beautiful children. Three preceded her in death: Her son Torries Ondray “Onnie” Horn, daughter Sharon Horn, and son William “Man” Thomas, Jr. When you entered into Evangelist Turner's home, you were greeted with extraordinary love, compassion, and delicious down to earth soul food ( made from scratch, no boxes). Evangelist Turner always gave from the heart. She never knew what the word “NO” meant. Evangelist Turner became a foster mom, step mother, grandma, to so many people. A TIME TO TRAINED: Evangelist Turner was a very caring, wonderful mother, as well as a devoted and loving wife. She had big dreams and was full of ambitious and aspirations. Evangelist Turner had such zeal for learning that she made the time to go back to school to further her education. She successfully earned a degree in Hospitality Management. Evangelist Turner was also a benevolent person that she often took chances on people by giving them their first job and opportunity to be productive members in society. A TIME TO LEAVE: Our God blessed us with this beautiful angel. Early Monday morning on July 27th, 2015 before the break of dawn a still voice whispered, “You’ve fought a Good Fight. You Kept the Faith, and Now the Course is Finished. Well Done, Dear Servant, Well Done.” That day, our Queen Evangelist Jacquilyn Turner departed this earthly world and went home to be with the Father, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A TIME TO REJOICE: It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, on Monday morning July 27, 2015, when God called you home. He would rather that everyone rejoice because she is now with the Lord. She is now in a place of no pain, no suffering, just still water of peace. She leaves to cherish her memories and celebrate her life, three children: Aris Z. Horn (son) of Miami, FL, Stephanie M. Horn (Daughter) of Bowie, Maryland, Eric D. Thomas (son) of Sunrise, Florida. One living sibling, Roxie Howell (sister). Seven grandchildren: Lateethia (Pooh Pooh) Horn, Benjamin McCullough, Stanley Williams, Temeika William, Sheneika Williams Hurley, Everett Horn, Falacia (Fee-Fee) Horn. Nine great-grandchildren: Laquesha Flowers, Danielle Flowers, Shantoria Williams, Jayrah Garrett, Da-Tron Foster, Rodrick Thompkins, Jr., Da’Shiya Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Da-Shon Peterman, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended devoted family and friends
