Obituary
Jean May Mills was born on February 12, 1951, in Trelawny, Jamaica, to father, Othniel, and mother, Sophia Williams. She was granted her angel wings on July 21, 2020. She passed away surrounded by her daughters, husband, friends, family members, and co-workers whom she touched throughout her short but memorable life. Jean’s life may seem too short to many, with her sudden death, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of her existence exceeds the quantity of time she lived. She attended Bryce All Age School in Jamaica and completed her formal education at St. Joseph’s Teachers College. She taught at Jones and Avondale prep schools in Kingston, Jamaica for many years until she migrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1985. she also taught at a public school in New York until she left the teaching field and crossed over into the medical field to work at Cobble Hill Nursing Facility until 1994. Jean relocated to Florida in 1992, were she bought her first home, which she resided in for the last 26 years. She was employed at Broward Health Hospital from 1994 to the time of her transition to heaven. Jean was a devoted wife, exceptional mother, and incredible grandmother, daughter, and sister. Her family meant the world to her. She was ambitious, driven, confident, God-fearing, strong, loyal, articulate, selfless, kind, meticulous, extremely generous, humorous, and just a walking angel on earth. She was a go-getter and always strived for success, which she attained beyond measure. She attended Gateway Church, where she remained a loyal member for over 18 years until the end. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, beloved sister, Gloria, and three brothers, Lucas, Owen, and Wilbert. She leaves behind her husband of 35 years, James Mills; 5 daughters, Martini, Stacey, Sophia, Tanika, and Kimberly; 20 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 6 sisters; 2 brothers; sons-in-law, Gregory Waugh and Keino Francis; and numerous nephews, cousins, aunts, other relatives, friends, and co-workers. Jean’s beautiful life will be cherished and remembered forever by everyone she touched. Our earthly loss is heaven’s gain. Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us.
