Jeffrey Botnick Lauderdale Lakes, Florida Obituary

Jeffrey Botnick

Jeffrey Neil Botnick was born in Bronx, NY on March 4th, 1943 and passed away on January 6th, 2021 in North Lauderdale, FL. His parents were Judith Botnick and Joseph Abraham Botnick. He had one younger sister, Susan Botnick. He was very close to his aunt Joan on his mother’s side and his grandmother Alice Spohn. He was married to Linda Botnick in 1983 and they were together for 40 years. He had three children, Judd Botnick, Christine Botnick and Meegan Botnick. He spent over 50 years in the construction industry in many capacities such as project manager, superintendent, estimator, and retired as director of construction for MC Velar Construction. Like his father who served in the United States Army in both World War 2 and the Korean War, Jeff served with pride and distinction in the United States Army for three years in Vietnam. He completed Officer Candidate School, the Air Defense Officer Course, and the Jungle Operations School. Perhaps most notably, he served in combat as an Air Defense Artillery officer in Vietnam. His awards included the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the rifle sharpshooter badge, and he received the Bronze Star Medal for his exceptionally meritorious service during his time in Vietnam. His Bronze Star citation states that his conscientious dedication and perseverance won for him the respect and admiration of all with whom he served. Lieutenant Botnick's devotion to duty, professionalism, and exemplary performance were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflected great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army. Above all, Jeff was a loving & dedicated husband and father. He was simple in the sense that he enjoyed the little things in life; reading a good book and walking his beloved service dog Chai. His favorite author was Tom Clancy. He was honorable, loyal and sincere. He was highly intelligent and highly analytical. He also had an odd sense of humor and liked to say everything was “the best ever!”; whether that was a gift, a holiday meal, or anything. He didn’t often laugh, but when he did, clearly the joke must have been hilarious. He was one of the most humble and decent individuals to ever live. He was old fashioned in the sense of not being overly expressive in his emotions and more the strong, stoic type, but we knew without a doubt, he loved his kids and wife more than life itself.
