Larry Baker

A TIME TO BE BORN: On July 23, 1956, Larry J. Baker Sr., affectionately known as “Daddy,” was born in Dover, Delaware and raised by his loving mother, Doris B. Johnson in Pahokee, FL. A TIME TO BE EDUCATED: Larry Sr. was educated in the Palm Beach County School System in Pahokee, FL. A TIME TO KNOW GOD: At a very young age, Larry Sr. learned about God's unconditional Love while attending church with his mother. He (Romie aka Romeyo) drifted and lived the life of a ladies man until he was drawn by God’s Love which prompted him to later settled down. He rededicated his life to Christ and served faithfully in ministry at The Victory Church (Where he called himself the OVERSEER) under the leadership of his son, Pastor Larry J. (Lakeitha) Baker Jr. A TIME TO WORK: Larry Sr. was a hard worker, at a very young age he worked in fields, factories and retails stores to help support his family. He was “Daddy” to his younger siblings. After starting a family of his own he remained dedicated, where he worked with Federal Maintenance and Triple Nickel. He developed a passion for asphalt & paving and as a result he started his own business paving residential driveways. He later drove trucks for Miron Lumber and Waste Management until he was unable to work. A TIME TO LAUGH: When Larry Sr. was around, you could always anticipate on having a good time! He was quiet (in his own way), yet his presence was the life of any family gathering. His stories, jokes and phrases were memorable, his laugh was known throughout the room, and his smile was unforgettable. These are precious memories that we will always cherish and remember. A TIME TO LOVE: In 1975 Larry Sr. met and later married Rebecca Watson. From this union, Carolyn, Larry Jr., and Jermaine Baker were born. Although they later divorced, they continued a great friendship which was a strong support system to their children and grandchildren. He later met and married Barbara Walker, they later divorced but remained loving friends. He finished his course of life in a very special and loving relationship with an earth angel, Constance Durden, whose love and care carried him to the finish line. A TIME TO MOURN: Early Saturday morning on February 20, 2016, surrounded by his family, God dispatched his angels to transition Larry Sr. from labor to reward. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris B. Johnson and his daughter, Carolyn Denise Baker. He leaves to cherish his memory; four loving sons: Larry Jr. (Lakeitha), Jermaine Baker, Felton “Red” Bess and Felton Baker; two daughters: Jasmine Smith and Felicia Baker. Although he biologically fathered three children, he has nurtured and cared for many others as a father, including Lakeitha Baker (Daughter after his own heart), Markevious Smith, Morgan Stokes and Little “Kyndal” McPhee who brought him much joy! He also leaves momentous memories with his five siblings, brothers: David Baker, William (Beverly) Baker and Freddie (Vickie) Wooten; two sisters: Rosetta (Major) Polk and Angelique Williams; and 13 grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
