Linda Huxable Obituary

Linda was born on October 22, 1963 in Brewton, Alabama to Rev. Leon and Lucy Mae Thomas. She graduated from White Plains High School in 1981 and went on to complete a degree in business where she graduated with honors from Westchester Community College in Valhalla, NY. She lived most of her young adult life in White Plains, NY. However, after meeting her true love, Howard Huxable, they relocated to Fort Lauderdale Florida and were married on December 16th 1988 at 4:30 PM. Linda was filled with lots of tenacity and a relentless desire to maintain a family bond, succeed in business and help others. Sunday dinners were very important in sustaining the family unity. Consequently, she found solace in planning family activities such as fishing, camping, riding dirt bikes and driving to the Keys, to ensure a continuum of ways to create memories with her children. Her unconditional support of her children’s ventures allowed her to bask in their success. Her favorite phrase was “Cool Beans” and she loved the color red, which was her symbol for love. Seeing how Howard Sr. and Jr. were working towards their pilots license she was encouraged to do the same. Linda also enjoyed various activities such as riding on the motorcycle with Howard to Fuddruckers and sharing a burger and then continuing to South Beach every Friday night. She also enjoyed baking cakes for events, drinking coffee, and cheering for her beloved Dolphin team. She also relished spending time at the beach with family as it became her escape. Linda was always comical and making jokes at any opportunity. Linda’s love for Howard and his love for her was nothing short of magical. Their faces would light up every time they encountered each other. Even in the wake of her illness, their love was stronger than anything imaginable. It is funny to think that she met Howard in her mom’s living room. Even through the stages of her health she still showed concern for the well-being and happiness of her husband and her beloved children. One person that Linda Idealized was her mother in law Lurline Huxtable (Mama) for being a great cook and a listening ear whenever she needed it. Linda departed this life on Monday, June 13th, 2016. She is loved and missed by so many. Preceding her in death is her loving cousin Amanda Baker McKnight. Her memory will always be treasured by: her mother, Lucy Mae Thomas; father, Rev. Leon Thomas; loving husband, Howard Huxable; son Terrence Huxable and girlfriend Nicholette Mowatt, son Howard Huxable and his wife Yely Huxable, her daughter Isis Huxable and her wife Paola Huxable; sister Elaine Andrew and Husband William Andrew; sister Leonora Lillie and husband Larry Lillie, Jr.; brother, Leon Thomas, Jr. and wife Patrice Thomas, and brother David McBride. Linda is survived also by a host of benevolent uncles, aunts, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
