Mageita Adassa Powell Lauderdale Lakes, Florida Obituary

Mageita Adassa Powell

Mageita Adassa Powell, affectionately know as Cher, was born on August 14, 1958, to Tivy Ricordiva Powell and Verdella Chambers. Mageita was the fourth child of 10. Mageita was a fun- loving person, and she sought family near and far. She would always talk about family and break down how the family came about. Mageita was from a large family, including five brothers and four sisters; she was the fifth sister. She was predeceased by three brothers, one sister, and her mother and father. Mageita was the backbone of the family. She was a mother to two children, Sanya and Michael, and also a grandmother to four, Tavya, Chedamia, Chelldon, and Zayven. She loved her grandchildren beyond what words can express. Time and time again, she would shield them. If only the grandchildren could have been born first. Mageita was a God-fearing woman and loved the Lord with everything within her. You would hear her praying, worshipping, and crying out to the Lord. She would pray through everything, the good times and the bad times. She made it her duty to teach her grandchildren how to pray and would tell them prayer is the remedy. Even on her dying bed, she was encouraging everyone to pray. She’d tell you, no matter what you’re going through, pray, always pray; pray in the good times, pray in the bad times, and make daily deposits of prayer, so the day you can’t pray, you can make withdrawals. She would go out to evangelize for the Lord. She wanted to be a soul winner for the Lord, and she wasn’t afraid to battle with you about the Bible or tell you about the great and magnificent God she served. She was a child of the Most High, and she wasn’t afraid or ashamed of it. Mageita was a workaholic. She would work seven days per week from sunrise to sunset, get home, and still find work to do; that’s how she relaxed. She was also a builder. She fixed everything and anything in her home, from tiling, fixing bathrooms, doing backsplashes in her kitchen, cutting her own lawn, cleaning her own pool, and whenever she payed to get it done, the job was definitely bigger than she was. She would plant her garden with pleasure, and she would pick and give away to anyone who would accept it. Mageita was an Earth Angel, and on April 27th, she received her wings. Now the thrown of God received an angel. She’s now an angel in her father’s mansion. We will miss and love her forever!
