Miriam Scully Lauderdale Lakes, Florida Obituary

Miriam Scully

Miriam Scully, resident of North Lauderdale, Florida and Church Pen, St. Catherine, Jamaica, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2016. Miriam was born on March 28, 1939 in Kemps Hill, Clarendon, to the late Alexander and Virginia Hayman. She received elementary education at the Race Course Primary School. Being the oldest child for her parents, she was given the task of helping to care for her siblings; a task she fully embraced. As fate would have it, Miriam later met her loving husband, Hentley Scully, and the two were wed on October 9, 1955. As customary, she left her home in Kemps Hill to live with her husband in Church Pen, St. Catherine. Their union produced 7 beautiful children: Rupert (Putt), Claudette (Pomie), Leroy (John), Albert (Derrick), Myrna (Dill), Charmaine (Fay) and Wilbert (Willie). Miriam spent many years in Church Pen raising her family and also played an immense role in caring for her extended family. Miriam and Hentley later migrated to the United States where they originally settled in New York and lived with their son Leroy and his Wife Valrie. Eventually, they moved to Florida and lived with Leroy and thereafter with Claudette. Over the years, she received love and support from her husband of almost 61 years, Hentley, 7 children, 21 Grandchildren, 8 Great-Grandchildren, Daughter-in-law Valrie, Son-in-law, Clive; 4 Brothers, 3 Sisters, Nieces, Nephews and a host of other relatives and friends, all of whom she has left behind as she embark on her new journey. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” Rest Well
