Nathaniel was born on April 20, 1927 in Indianola Mississippi to the late Melzine and Emmitt Thompson. Around age 11 the family moved to Memphis Tennessee. After many years there, Nathaniel moved on from Memphis to Fort Lauderdale, and that is where he met and married his wonderful wife, Melvin Virginia Woods. From this union three kids were born Clyde, Lenette (Gary ­ deceased) and Betty. "Tennessee" as he's been called since coming to Florida found work as a waiter at M&M cafeteria where he made some lasting friendships that still exist today. After a few years of doing that, he decided to explore the swimming pool world in which he worked for almost 50 years. During his years working on pools he traveled to many places including Saudi Arabia. "Ten" was a good cook, loved to cook and entertain. You could always find a domino game going on at his house, and plenty of good food. He enjoyed his life after retirement and was an early riser, walking most mornings at 5am along with his neighbor George Johnson. Nathaniel was preceded in death by his first wife, Melvin and his son Clyde "Skip" Thompson. He leaves to cherish his memory daughters: Lenette Burns and Betty Thompson who were also his caretakers the past few years; adopted son: John Anthony; good friends Rastell "Ross" Justice, and Mr. Sandy Cutter. He also leaves 8 grandchildren: Kristie (Derome Linder), Brian, Lashanda, Antoinette (Pastor Hepburn), Andrea, Craig, Tovia (James) and Justin. 19 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Nathaniel enjoyed reading the bible and found peace in the word.
