Olive C. Hilman Lauderdale Lakes, Florida Obituary

Olive C. Hilman

Olive was a loving, kind, compassionate, hard working woman who was dedicated to her family and loved ones. She loved LIFE and LIVING it, and she LOVED to travel. She loved to cook meals, and bake cakes and tarts from scratch, food that would not only fill your belly, it would fill your SOUL. People would always want to find out the recipe! Coming from a large family, she was always willing to give advice and guidance from her life experiences to help others. Olive Caroline Hilman was born on February 1st, 1937, on the island of Aruba in the Netherlands Antilles to Beautrix Hilman. She was the third of six children, and was generally known by her middle name, Caroline. She attended and graduated from the Prince Bernard School in Aruba. On July 18th, 1969, she migrated from Aruba to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, New York. Shortly thereafter, she was employed at IBM, where she worked diligently and raised her family. After 25 years of service, she retired from IBM and later relocated to San Antonio, Texas. After a few years in Texas, she moved to Florida, where she spent the remainder of her life. She enjoyed her retirement, spending time with loved ones, many friends, and acquaintances. She also enjoyed attending the Volen Senior Center in Florida, where she made numerous friends. Caroline was a phenomenal woman, one of a kind. She loved travelling, cooking, baking, dancing, music, and dressing from head to toe. Under her rough exterior dwelled a gentle SOUL. She was always there when you needed her, but most of all, she loved and cherished her nine children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was recently preceded in passing by her eldest son, Roberto. She leaves to mourn: her brother Delano; sisters, Sybil and Priscilla; children : Francisca, Shawn, Eby, Flores, Rosa Maria, Celsio, Yolanda, and Audley; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great- great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, far too numerous to mention. She will be greatly missed and loved. O l i v e C a r o l i n e H i l m a n ALWAYS. SLEEP IN PEACE, OUR QUEEN.`
