Pearlie Mae Askew, age 79 passed away from this life into eternal life on December 2, 2020 in Fort Valley, Ga. Mother Askew was born on February 17, 1941 to William Henry Jones and Pearline Rutherford Jones in Warner Robins, GA. Who have both preceded her in death. She was one of 11 children born to this union. She is survived by her siblings, Robert Jones (Dorothy), Raymond Jones (Bernice), Kenneth Jones (Rita), Kent Jones (Annie), Mary Lane and Florine Jones. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Edward Jones, Rufus Jones, Corine Johnson and Mattie B. Ward. She attended school in Houston County, GA, where she spent most of her time enjoying her family and the company of her childhood friend, Annie Ruth Moore. She was joined in union with Willie Floyd Askew on October 20, 1956 until his passing on October 26, 1994. Together they raised ten children, whom they loved unconditionally and instilled Christ into each of them. She was a devoted wife, protective mother, and loving grandmother. Pearlie Mae was well known as someone who loved helping others. For many years she worked at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary as the Classroom Grandmother. Mother Askew dedicated her life to Christ and was a faithful and dedicated member at The church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith for more than 50 years. Pearlie Mae Askew came into the church at a young age under Bishop S.C. Johnson and continue through leadership Bishop S. McDowell Shelton and of today’s Leader Bishop Omega Shelton. She served on the committee of Care and Mercy. She also enjoyed directing the young adult choir and was also a member of the Florida State Choir. Pearlie Mae was survived by her children, Willie Askew, Jr., Faye Askew, Pamela Williams (Isiah), Veronica Henley (Edward), Curtis Askew, Corene Askew, Johnathan Askew, Charay Askew (Samuel), Dexter Askew, and Melissa Askew (John), and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She will truly be missed.
