As a child growing up in the village of Beecher
Town, St Ann, Jamaica Pearline was very self-
confident and assertive exhibiting leadership
qualities. When playing “dolly-house with her
friends she always assumed the role of mother
or teacher-the one who gave orders.
She was very good at delegating responsibilities
while she assumed the role of supervisor.
She loved to dress up and she really loved
jewellery even to the point of using plumbago
flowers to make ear-rings, necklace and garlands
for her hair.
Pearline was not generally an early riser but her love for mangoes and
avocado would cause her to rise early to pick up her share because it was a
first come first serve basis
She was introduced to the way of the Lord at an early age by her grand-
mother who saw to it that everyone in the household took part in devotions
every night.
Although from humble beginnings, she was taught the dignity of work,
fair-play, love and kindness at an early age and she carried those attributes
through life.
She loved her siblings dearly and if it meant fighting to protect them from
bullies at school she was willing to do that.
As a teenager Pearline was determined that she wanted to be a teacher and
so she studied very hard to get the requisite subjects for Teachers College.
She loved to dance and always looked forward to the day when she could
dress-up and go to birthday parties. She loved to debate and was at her
best when she was having a lively debate on politics or religion.
She loved a good game of dominoes although she was not too much of a
good player.
Pearline was an excellent wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend who loved
to cook, entertain and host parties. Her home became a “haven” for many
family members where everyone was welcome and treated with respect.
We will miss her smile, those big brown eyes, her warm hug and her
strong Christian Faith and Commitment but take confidence in the fact
that she is at a better place , resting with the Lord.
Until we meet again, rest well . We love you BUT GOD LOVES YOU
BEST,.
