Robert Lee Permenter Lauderdale Lakes, Florida Obituary

Robert Lee Permenter

Robert Lee Permenter was born on May 18, 1953, in Braggs, Alabama, to the late Arthur and Ida Mae Permenter. He was adored by family and friends and was affectionately known by the nicknames of “Peaches,” “Slick,” and “Big Poppa.” Robert attended both Dillard and Nova High Schools, where he was an avid football and basketball player. During most of his 25-year professional career, Robert worked as a bus driver for Broward County Schools. He also worked for the City of Ft. Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department, where he loved the kids and was well-known as “Mr. Robert.” He owned his own painting company, and he painted homes, churches, and businesses for next to nothing. He was sacrificial and giving of his money and time to others. He loved his family and his community. Fishing was his pride and joy. He was an avid fisherman and would spend countless days and hours on his boat catching his favorite fish, “SPECKS.” He joined Bible Talk International, and later became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in December of 2019. On Tuesday, February 25, 2020, God saw fit to call Robert home. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Vylene (Evans) Permenter. Robert’s legacy lives on through: his three sons, Demetrius Permenter (Kisa), Shawn Williams (LaKeisha), and Joshua Permenter; three daughters, Tijuana Simmons, Crystal Blow (Turan), and Candace McCaw (Michael); grandchildren, Gerald and Carter Permenter, Shaunkedra, DaShawn and Shakyra Williams, Sharelle and Shanique Simmons, James Bryant, Rubin Harris, Harmony, Melodie and Omari Blow, and Dayzia McCaw; stepchildren, Winifred Thompkins, James Brooks, Jonathan Jackon, Kenneth Robert Lee Permenter and Julian Lee Evans, and Tantrial Donard.
