Vanessa Gail “Cookie” Watson-Reid was born to Minnie
Pearl Johnson-Watson Taylor and to the late Glynn
Virgil Watson, Sr in Fort Lauderdale, Fl.
At an early age, Vanessa developed a love for jazz music,
makeup, collecting coins and the Lord. She attended
Lincoln Park Elementary School, Rogers Junior High,
Seminole Middle and Dillard High School where she
graduated in 1978.
Vanessa acquired her first job at the age of 16 in which
she worked as a receptionist at a law firm. Afterwards,
she went to Planation General Hospital. Then she
attended Wilfred Beauty Academy for Makeup and
Cosmetology. Soon after she gave birth to three loving
kids; Arielle Watson (Ebb Mathis, deceased), Chelsea
and Daniel Reid from husband Owen. Vanessa married
Owen Reid in 1992 and remained in this loving union
until her passing. She stopped working due to health
issues and to become a stay at home mom. Despite her
health complications, Vanessa was a great cook and an
amazing pool player with many trophies. She also was
an avid fisher. Once her children became adults, she
returned to the workforce in June 2008 as a dispatcher
for the Transportation Services Industry.
Vanessa was a loving devoted wife, mother and friend.
She was a joy to be around and everyone will miss her.
Vanessa transitioned on November 21, 2020. She leaves
behind to mourn; her mother Minnie Pearl Johnson

Beach, Glynn Watson III; Lauderhill, Godmother Ruby
Hankerson; Ft. Lauderdale, also leaves behind a host of
family and friends.
