Ronald Velton

Ronald (Ron) Velton, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Leesburg, Florida on December 2nd, 2017, following a short illness with Pneumonia, because of Parkinson’s disease. His wife Julitta (Juli) was by his side. Ron was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka on February 13, 1931. He was educated in Sri Lanka thru high school and then went to London where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of London. Upon completion, he returned to Sri Lanka where he worked with an Engineering Company. He also worked in England and Hong Kong prior to taking a job in Nassau, Bahamas at Chase Manhattan Bank in the Trust Dept. for 30 years. During this time, he met and later married his wife Juli. Ron was a keen Golfer, a sport which he loved to play and watch, and won many trophies. He and Juli both retired in September 1991 and moved to Florida. Ron made quite a few friends in the golf community and Juli and the wives became good friends. He and Juli took several Caribbean cruises which gave them a chance to see Juli’s relatives and enabled him to reunite with a few of his friends in Nassau. They also traveled to various places in the US, Canada, England, Sri Lanka, Dubai and Thailand. Ron also contributed to various charities over the years. Ron is predeceased by his parents and his brother Victor. He is survived by his wife Julitta (Juli), sister Shirrani, brother-in-law Solhi, sister-in-law Hazel, sons Mark, Neil, Ross, daughter Sonia, grandchildren James, Jack, Saul, Tobias, and Celia and numerous relatives and friends in Sri Lanka, England and The Bahamas. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel, Leesburg.
