Ada Myrick Obituary

Ada Mae Thornhill Myrick was born June 30, 1925, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, to Jabus and Ada Thornhill. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 8, 2018. She was a longtime resident of Allentown, Florida; and a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Allentown, Florida. Ada was a hard working lady, she worked for many years at Chemstrand Corporation which later became Monsanto Corporation in Pensacola, Florida. In her forties, she went back to school and pursued her passion to become a nurse. She fulfilled this dream and worked at both Sacred Heart Hospital and West Florida Hospital, both in Pensacola, Florida. When she retired, she returned to West Florida Hospital and worked there as a volunteer. She was a fun loving, caring lady who always put God first. As sisters, she and Betty spent many days together shopping, talking, and putting up fruits and vegetables; even after she was admitted to Century Health & Rehabilitation Center, Betty visited frequently. She was a loving aunt and wonderful role model to her nieces and nephews and to anyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jabus and Ada Thornhill; her husband of 41 years, William Otis Myrick; two brothers, J.D. Thornhill Jr. and Francis M. Thornhill; and a special brother-in-law, William (Pogue) Thompson Sr. She is survived by her sister, Betty Ann Thornhill Thompson; nieces, Tammy Ann Thompson Pascal (Tim) and Cheryl Thornhill Neely; nephews, William E. Thompson Jr. (Tonya), J.D. Thornhill III; and several great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great nieces and great-great-nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Burial will follow services in the Dixonville Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Special thanks to our wonderful family friend, Beverly Blair, who was always willing to give of her time to take Betty to the care center to visit with Ada; to Century Health & Rehab Center for providing excellent care to Ada, and we know she kept you all on your toes; and to Covenant Hospice for stepping in and assisting in providing excellent care when the time came. Thank you all for your faithful dedication, your love, support and kindness shown to Ada and our family - you will never be forgotten.
